It is Europe, 1500. Courts glitter with possibility. Cathedrals ring with sacred polyphony. Princes spend fortunes to hear one perfect aria.

And you — a young composer with ink-stained fingers and outsized ambition — are about to step onto the grandest stage in Western history.

In Maestro's Journey, 2–4 players compete to become the most celebrated composer of the Renaissance, Baroque, or Classical era. You will study your craft, recruit an orchestra, win the favour of nobility and clergy, accept commissions, and compose original works.

The first player to earn 50 Fame or complete 3 Masterworks wins.
Fame fades. Masterworks endure.

Each composition is brought to life through Lyria, Google's AI music generation tool — generating a 30-second audio clip and liner notes that become the official record of your work, preserved on your Masterwork Card.

1500 – 1600
Renaissance
Polyphony, patronage, and the first great flowering of European court music. The madrigal. The motet. The lute fantasia.
1600 – 1750
Baroque
Opera is born. Bach writes fugues that last forever. Handel conquers London. Vivaldi storms Venice. The orchestra takes shape.
1750 – 1820
Classical
Haydn invents the symphony. Mozart perfects everything. The public concert replaces the private court. Revolutions loom.
Legacy Variant
Dynasty Play
A three-era campaign spanning all three historical periods. Play as a musical dynasty, passing legacy — and Heirloom instruments — between generations.

What Makes It Sing

Six interlocking systems that reward strategic depth without sacrificing narrative richness.

🗺
Europe as Your Stage
Travel between Vienna, Paris, London, Venice, Leipzig, Salzburg, Prague, Naples, Rome, and Seville. Each city offers unique venues, commissions, and study opportunities. Distance costs coins. Timing costs turns.
🎼
Compose with AI
Every composition generates a unique Lyria prompt assembled from your dice rolls, Style Cards, and Composer attributes. Paste it into Gemini, play the audio to the table, and record the AI-generated description as your official liner notes.
🎻
Build Your Orchestra
Recruit 60 unique musicians across 6 sections — Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Vocal, Continuo. Each musician has a distinct ability. Orchestra size directly determines your actions per round, making every recruitment decision consequential.
Navigate Patronage
Balance Nobility, Clergy, and Public Favour to unlock commissions. Each patron type opens different commission tiers, creates political obligations, and shapes your Lyria prompts. A court composer and a street musician play very differently.
📜
72 Style Cards
From Cantus Firmus to The Revolutionary Ninth. Common, Rare, and Legendary cards define the character of every composition, add keywords to your AI prompts, and occasionally trigger Style Clashes that can end in scandal — or brilliance.
Maestro's Legacy
A three-era campaign where you play as a musical dynasty across three generations. Inherit Fame (at 60%), downgrade your orchestra, transfer traits, and build toward Dynasty Victory at 150 Fame — or through a single composer reaching Imperial Maestro status.
